Estate Planning & Planned Gifts to Non-Profits

What is Estate Planning?

Estate planning refers to the preparation of how an individual’s assets will be distributed at the end of life. Common methods of estate planning include making a will, setting up a trust, and/or making charitable donations (also referred to as a planned gift).

Your planned gift or donation can be used by a nonprofit as a single donation or a living trust that will continue to give for many years into the future.

Estate planning is not just for the wealthy. Anyone can make a long-lasting charitable fund that can last well beyond their life here on earth. Some charitable donations from estates are as little as $1000.

Why Designate a Gift in Your Estate Plan?

If you want to make a planned gift through your estate planning, we ask that you consider Friends of Rim Country GCC. By making a charitable gift to Friends of Rim Country GCC in your estate plan:

  • You are making an impact for generations to come.
  • You are providing financial support for underserved students to obtain a higher education.
  • You are training the future nurses, business owners, and teachers in Rim Country.
  • We are an Arizona Qualifying Charitable organization and 501(c)3 which means your donation is tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
  • The process is easy and Friends will assist in executing your wishes and connecting you with a trusted financial advisor if requested.

how to make a non-profit donation in your will

To give a Legacy donation, contact Friends of Rim Country or your financial advisor. They will instruct you how to designate Friends of Rim Country GCC, Inc. as a beneficiary and specify the amount of the gift in a dollar sum or as a percentage of the estate in your will.

Your donation can be in the form of:

Specific Bequest: Which gifts a specific dollar amount, percentage of your estate, or property – including but not limited to real estate, IRA’s insurance policies, personal property, stocks, and annuities.

Residual Bequest: Which gifts the remaining portion of your assets after other terms have been satisfied.

Contingency Bequest: Which gifts a percentage of your estate if you outlive your named beneficiary.

Restricted Bequest: Allows you to designate how your gift will be used. An example of a restricted bequest is an endowment.

In addition to designating Friends in your will, we ask donors to complete the Legacy Giving form. The Friends of Rim Country Legacy Giving form provides Friends context as to the intent of your donation and how we can best honor your wishes.

If you'd like to leave a legacy, we'd love to speak with you.
