High Country Garden Club Donates $500 to Friends of Rim Country GCC
The Friends of Rim Country GCC are pleased to announce a generous $500 donation from the High Country Garden Club to support local education and provide scholarships for students attending Gila Community College.
The donation reflects the long-standing commitment of the High Country Garden Club to support community initiatives in Payson and the surrounding Rim Country area. Founded in 1996 by a small group of local gardeners, the club has become an active force in local beautification projects, educational programs, and various charitable efforts.
The High Country Garden Club initially began as an affiliate chapter of the Gardener’s Club of America, with just seven founding members. In 2001, the club made the decision to disaffiliate from the national organization and become an independent group, allowing it to keep more resources local and better serve the needs of the community. Since then, the club has been a constant presence in Payson, working on initiatives such as the “Adopt a Street” Beautification Program, which it continues to support today. The club has also played a key role in the beautiful garden on the Gila Community College campus.
“We are so grateful for the generous donation from the High Country Garden Club,” said Heather Perry, Chair for Friends of Rim Country GCC. “Their support will directly benefit local students, helping them pursue higher education and career goals. This contribution is a wonderful example of the community working together to make a lasting impact.”
Friends of Rim Country GCC is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for scholarships and other educational initiatives benefiting local students. The group works closely with Gila Community College to ensure that students in Rim Country have access to the tools they need to succeed academically and professionally.
With continued support from community organizations like the High Country Garden Club, local students at Gila Community College will have more opportunities to pursue their educational dreams and contribute back to the Rim Country in meaningful ways.
